Our Story

How we got here

In truth, our story began back in 2018, when Yann, one of our founders was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the youthful age of just 28 (Note: an extremely fit, healthy and able-bodied male).

As you can imagine, being diagnosed with such a serious illness at that age was a hugely traumatic and frightening experience. Fortunately for Yann, he was able to catch the cancer early and make a full recovery. However, through researching testicular cancer, Yann realised there are a great number of people that aren’t so lucky. In some cases, not diagnosing soon enough proves fatal.

Now with just one ball intact, Yann set out to spread the word, along with co-founder, Daniel, who has also felt the impact of – breasts – cancer through his close family. It was in this moment back in 2018, that Bike For Balls was born.

Initially we, then a peloton of four – Clement, Dan, Julien & Yann, set out on an epic fundraising ride from Amsterdam to Paris to increase awareness, raise money and encourage even our most bashful buddies to take out their boobs and balls and give them a feel.

Since then, we have completed 4 colossal challenges, with 13 riders cycling a cumulative 17,500km. Hit the link below for more information on our previous achievements.

THE TEAM

YANN

France

The true inspiration behind B4B. Yann was diagnosed with testicular cancer back in 2018 but thankfully made a full recovery.

Although down to 1 ball, Yann still has both hands ready to help you check yourself.

Daniel

UK

Along with Yann, Daniel co-founded B4B back in 2018 after experiencing cancer, albeit indirectly, close to home.

At 6ft 3, Daniel is our resident wind-breaker, some say he has the ability to create a vacuum in his wake.

Clement

France

Clement has been with B4B since the start, taking part in our inaugral event back in 2018.

With the attention span of a 3 year old on the bike, Clem is another B4B rider familar with the tarmac. Clem is also renound for his extremely high, ride time : puncture ratio.

Hamish

UK

The flying (over his own handlebars) Scotsman, Hamish!

Our very own bionic man, Hamish seems to spend more time on the tarmac than he does upright on two wheels.

Derek

Netherlands

As a stereotypical Dutchman, it is believed that Derek was riding his bike before even learning how to walk.

Derek has been with B4B since our Amsterdam > Copenhagen ride in 2019. With a lifetime of cycling under his belt Derek has the knack of turning up completely short of training and still spending most his time at the front of the bunch.

Casper

Netherlands

Caspi-daddy! The Dutch-raw powerhouse, pure FTP rider will make you wish you’ve trained for longer before trying to follow his wheel. The calming and joyful presence of Caspar in the team has helped the group through thick and thin.

Johan

Sweden

Johan, our Scandy member of the peloton, has been the creative energy of the group. From dark humour, to first website and brand identity he has left lasting mark onto the group. Though he has now taken on a guitarist hobby path preventing him from joining main events, he’s spirit lives on on the road with us.

Alex

UK

The wildcard! Alex only began cycling seriously back in 2020 and within 6 months joined us on our epic 1,250km adventure from Milan to Amsterdam – (some serious nuts!)

Alex also took part in our UK Coast to Coast challenge in 2021 in what was another successful B4B event.
